For years, AI existed in a regulatory gray zone. Companies built models, deployed them, broke things. Nobody really knew the rules because there weren't any.

That era is over.

2024-2025 is the year regulation actually landed. The EU AI Act took effect. The US issued executive orders. China tightened rules. The UK, Canada, Australia — everyone's writing AI law.

If you're building AI, you need to understand the landscape. Because ignoring regulation isn't just unethical — it's expensive. Fines go into the millions.


The EU AI Act: The Strictest Rules

The European Union went first, and they went hard. The AI Act (regulation (EU) 2024/1689) is now law.
